Auditory Processing Disorder (APD) disrupts the brain’s ability to process and understand sounds. Similar to individuals with hearing loss, both children and adults with APD have difficulty understanding speech, especially in noisy environments.
At Auditory Processing Services, we diagnose and treat children as young as 3.5 years old, as well as adults and elderly adults.
Amber Richards is a Clinical Audiologist based in Kingston, Tasmania specialising in auditory processing disorders.
Amber has worked in the hearing industry for 17 years in adult and paediatric rehabilitation.
She is an active member of the Audiological Society of Australia and belongs to the Auditory Processing Institute.
Research shows that APD intervention and therapy has many positive outcomes, which is Amber’s motivation for providing treatment for auditory processing disorder to people of all ages.

Adults
We offer APD diagnosis and therapy for adults and elderly adults. We also work with clients with Traumatic Brain Injury and Cochlear Implants.

Children
We see children from 3.5 years old. With early diagnosis and intervention, we can help your child achieve great results.

Referrals
Clients may be referred by teachers, speech therapists, GPs or psychologists. Many people recognise APD red flags in themselves or their child and self-refer. You don’t need a referral to book an appointment with Auditory Processing Services.

NDIS and Medicare
You may be able to access Medicare rebates with a referral, or if you or your child has a Team Care Arrangement in place. If you have access to funding through the NDIS, we can provide services to self-managed, plan-managed and NDIS managed clients.
